If you are interested in growing microgreens in your own home, knowing which supplies to buy is the first step. Here we share our favorite sources for trays, seeds and other equipment you will need to get you growing successfully.

Growing trays
These 1020 microgreen trays from Bootstrap Farmer have been one of the best investments we’ve made for growing our own microgreens. The trays are sturdy, durable and hold up to countless uses, washing and storing. For easy watering and proper drainage, a mesh tray stacked on a solid tray is the perfect set up for a great harvest. The shallow height allows for easy harvesting, allowing you to cut right above the soil with ease.

If you would like to grow a smaller amount of microgreens, bootstrap farmer also offers 10x10 or 5x5 trays. These downsized trays are also great for testing different varieties, or growing multiple crops at one time. The 5x5 and 10x10 trays can be stacked in the solid 1020 trays for easy watering underneath.

Racking system
If you plan on growing microgreens regularly, and want to try different varieties, having a rack with grow lights can help you maintain more consistent results.
These metal racks we found at Menards are inexpensive, durable, and easy to set up and take down. The shelves can easily be adjusted to make room for different sized trays or plants. When placed vertically, up to four 1020 trays can fit on one shelf. Any shelves that are not needed for growing trays can be used to store all of your other supplies.
